Who Cares If It Doesn't Make Sense, It Looks Pretty.

I was inspired by 675 Bar in the meatpacking district, which features this lounge area complete with color charted bookshelves.

This photograph is by Eric Laignel and was featured in the September 2009, Interior Design magazine.
Today I embarked on a similar project of color coordinating my bookshelves. I adore my books and have always organized them by subject or author. So my book were very well organized prior to my pretty up project. They looked like this:
I made color piles:

I even filled up a box with donate books- Among them was this classic.
Would you want this guy anywhere near your erroneous zones?
And here are the final results.

  7. I imagine with this project that you'd get similarly off track as when you're trying to put away or organize picture albums-- just lost in the nostalgia of each one! I love the final look- especially the way you did cool colours on one row and warm colours on the other. Certainly looks worth the effort to me!

  12. that looks fantastic. and what exactly is an erroneous zone? erogenous I've heard of. I agree, that author doesn't need to be getting near any of my zones.

  13. Hey - thank you for visiting and introducing me to your wonderful blog. We, well, John, has just been building new bookshelves for our ever enlarging collection. I didn't co-ordiante them, because I like the randomness f what books end up nect to each other.
Maybe it's my age, but I quite liked Dr Wayne ;)

    Clair- Thank you
Rachel- I tried to stay on task, my monkeys helped me, we played library, I even had them stamping with my custom design library stamp, so a little off track.
Bo- a bottle of wine and an evening at home- that is all it would take!
Whorange- Have you posted any photos on your blog? I would love to see!
    CK- I totally agree
Niku- Take them out and give them life!
Sherri- I am SO glad you asked! Erroneous- in the context of this book is about fixing what is wrong or erroneous about 'the self'.
NONE of my zones- totally agreed!
Jacqui- I like the idea of the mingling and random getting aquainted of the your books-
