Books As Design

I love this library desk which is located at TU Delft University in the Netherlands.
It is made of recycled book with a glass top.
Here are a few more images from the universities architecture library that I love:
The seating reminds me of the chairs from the Lou Ruvo Center by Frank Gehry

I love projects that inspire the use of books as art.

All the library images were found via Recycle Art
And all library photograph are by Ellen Forsyth

Do you use books as a design element in your home?

  5. That's all ingenious, and I love the coloured windows on such a stately building. I wonder whether I could build my long-desired pagoda out of suitably light-hearted Victorian books?

  9. The desk is a great idea. I do not use books as decoration - unless you consider stacks of books by bedsides, in kids closets, and just about every place in our house decoration!! I'd say books clutter our home beautifully.

  12. My daughter would faint if she saw that counter, she adores books. I've been moving some books around as of late, playing with color and what not. Still not happy with it but working on it...

  23. So, all those stacks of books I have scattered throughout my domain are end tables. Thanks to your blog I have just acquired new furniture. The library furniture is indeed awesome, and so appropriate in the setting.

  24. I love the color coordinated/rainbow desk made out of books! That just rocks! I always have books, normally a little everywhere, on shelves, tables, cabinets... But not really used for decoration. (and not really too many books where we're living now). I'm intrigued by your book project, going to check it out now!
