Car Art

I am not a car person-I’m the type of person who says ‘the blue car’, never the make.
A Chrysler and a Bentley look exactly the same to me. A sports car is a sports car, weather it is a Porche or a Saturn.
I have theories about people who spend too much money on cars or that drive military style vehicles in the city...if you are interested in knowing them, email me.
I plan to never own a new car- although I have.  The depreciation is staggering enough to have made me reform.
My first car was a white 1982 BMW- My grandmother drove it once a week for about twenty years before I got it- It served me well.  When we moved to the Caribbean it was driven from Toronto to Miami then shipped via ship to Phillipsburg.  I am sure she is still enjoying the good life, on island time.
I will also never own an expensive car, I don’t deserve to. I treat my car like a huge trash can that I empty out when I am looking for a lost library book. I also treat my car like a bumper car- I wait till it hits and then stop- neither of these make Dr. J happy.
My only car ‘wish’ is to one day own a yellow one. That is my dream wish.
SO- how I ended up at a car show this weekend has more to do with the funnel cakes then with the cars. I don’t ‘get’ car shows but I appreciate it as a creative outlet. Here are some photos from the event-

This was my favorite car- an orange VW van. The inside was super cool and they had a basket of FREE lollipops in the back, so it was the monkeys favorite car too.

And the reason I was even at this show:

Oh, how cruel of you! :-) Do you know what I would give to have a piece of that dessert right now?

These old cars are fantastic. I had forgotten about the VW bus until I saw it here. You use to see these every where and bring back great moments of my college days.

I hear you completely. I do however yearn to own a mint green (or pale turquoise) 1950s Holden. I so see myself in leopard head scarf, grace Kelly shades and ladies driving gloves cruising town at the wheel. My partner reminds me though how incredibly eco unfriendly such a car would be... sigh....

I have a soft spot for all those vintage cars. My first "serious" boyfriend back in high school dragged me along to car shows and slowly educated me about what we saw there. While I don't go to car shows anymore, I do enjoy pointing out a make and model to my family when I see one out for a pleasure ride on a summer day!

I like cars, but I'm not a fan of car shows either. I've never seen a funnel cake with marshmallows on it.

I suspect it was a great family day. As one who views cars as a means to get from here to there, I suspect we'd have a great time together. With a little drizzle of caramel the funnel cake would be sheer perfection. Have a great day. Blessings...Mary

Smore funnel cake??? You're kidding me! I must have one!

I'm not a big car lover either, but I enjoy looking at old ones and fun ones like that.

when I'm rich enough to get such a car (blue, taken from 40's-50's)I'll let you drive it next to my little house but you'll have to be careful not to fall into my swimming pool;)

have a nice day!

Ha, I feel the same as you. I don't care one iota about what I drive as long as it has good air (I live in Phoenix). ALSO, found myself at my first car show last month. Shared a vendor booth there with another jewelry maker. I was surprised at how interested I was in the cars - the older ones were fantastic.

Hee, hee. The part about treating your car like a big, giant trash can made me laugh.

I too have that habit. If it weren't for The Mr. our car would be mistaken for Oscar's home.

Frankly, I have no interest in cars. It's only a matter of cleaniness & safety on the road that concern me. hehe... Sounds a little serious huh! =) But the bottom picture does interest me alot. haha.... That's what a foodie blogger all about! haha...
Hope you're having a wonderful day!
Cheers, Kristy

I would be there for that delectable morsel as well. yum. I can relate when you say "I treat my car like a huge trash can that I empty out when I am looking for a lost library book". ha ha. I will never own a new car either. I just want one that runs.

Mmmmm that looks delicious.
About cars - a couple of years ago I almost traded in my trusty Subaru because I thought I needed something NEW to be safe. At the 11th hour I changed my mind, and instead showed my car how much I loved and appreciated her by doing something special. If you keep checking back to my blog (follow me perhaps?) I promise to post photos of my sweet car, with it's flowers and dragonflies, sometime this summer. I'll keep her as long as she'll let me...

I just drive my car! And mine is a Toyota , 14 years old which is going quite fine. But my hubby insists we need a better one as the age problems will not get us far on the road.
My bro-in-law bought I Porsche Carrera S recently but it was just another car to me!!!!

Maybe You'll Enjoy These Too...
