A few of you asked what we were going to do with the Pecans we were gifted
Truth be told we're just eating them.
They are time consuming to crack open a pile large enough to make something with-
Despite our best efforts to even make an assembly line of cracking- we usually end up eating more than we save-
If you want to make a monkey happy- give them a hammer |
My vampire |
We would make awful squirrels!
Once the craft supplies were out- creativity ensued and my older monkey invented a game called:
Flying Ball
As always I love creating, with what we have on hand-
In this case beer bottles!
(they have also been working hard making more Beer Cap Art)
What kind of fun and games have you been up to?

How inventive!! We do a running look and not running game...called Grandmas and Grandpas after what my son is saying... Have a fab evening!
i love that vampire picture. the creativity in your family is inspiring.
Well, it sure looks they are busy and having fun! So far this summer, most of my fun and games have been mechanical in nature, getting our vehicle ready for some trips!
What creativity. I love it. They are such cute boys too!
creative. :) i've been playing Guesstures with my cousins from Texas. so funny! also, this post makes me chuckle because my beau and i had a discussion... well, bet, on how to pronounce pecan... haha.
wanna be child again! :) they are so cute and it seems they're having fun!
...
in Turkish when we see cute, nice children we say "masallah" -to keep away loved ones from evil eyes!
masallah for the cute boys :))
If you lived in the south you could take 'em down to the local hardware store and they have a machine that cracks 'em! For a little extra, you can have them completely shelled and bagged up. I love pecans.
@Grace- really!!! I have never heard of such a machine- I wish I could take the monkeys to see something like that!
That is actually so interesting/
Looks like a super game! Your monkeys are so inventive.
I love to see how creative kids can get, especially when they have loads of free time in the summertime! Will a nutcracker work on the pecans? I don't eat pecans often enough to know what works and what doesn't... but I do know that an excess of pecans usually leads to a pecan pie.
the take away from this post is that I should go and drink some beers so my kids can do crafts... right? :)
Haha, no..you would not make squirrels. I confirm that I have never seen a squirrel playing with their nuts. (wait...that came out wrong...you know what I mean!)
Looks like fun!
I know I've told you this before but your monkeys are SO CUTE.
omg how fun!!!!
Your monkeys are wonderful!!! Love nuts to death. In fact I am running off now to buy some. Oh oh, those beer cap arts are interesting eh...
i love that you get them to be creative, i feel like i don't see that very often!
How does one know when Pecans are ready. I brought some seeds to the DR and now I have 3 pecan trees, they now have little green balls. I didn't think they would fruit. Speaking of squirrels, we are in a state park and the boys are having so much fun, watching the little chatterers.
We had a similar experience with our black walnuts--I was all gung ho about harvesting them off of our tree, but there's just no way to crack them efficiently. We found the best way for us was a vice--tighten until they just pop (although, even this sometimes sent shards everywhere!)
Fun and cute! Think I remember loving to play with hammers as a kid too... what is up with that? :) Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
I love pecans, but always get the ones without shell! And your vamnpire monkey is so cute.
You know I have a thing for vampire books and movies right? :)
Hugs,
Signe
