What Would You Do With An Extra Two Hours?

When I was in high school I remember hearing this quote:
Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo Da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.
This quote had an effect on me and I vowed to not use the phrase ‘I don’t have enough time’.  Really when you say ‘I don’t have enough time’ what you are saying is ‘I’m prioritizing and this/that is not a priority’.
In the past few years and especially since I started homeschooling, I have given myself permission to not feel bad when my priorities knock something off the list of things that were supposed to be done that day. Disappointing others is more forgivable than disappointing yourself.  Balancing my health and happiness means that sometimes I have to postpone a play date, leave the lunch dishes out or not drop off the overdue videos at the library.
I think it is important to not make excuses for the things that should matter to you the most.  For me it would be reading, writing, blogging, getting exercise, making my family dinner, hosting dinner parties and a load of of things.
With advances in technology I think we are generally afforded more time in our day.  My IPhone and GPS alone have saved me heaps of time.  I though this chart was neat: if employees data collection was more efficient then they would have an extra two hours a day.
If there was a chart like this for Stay At Home Moms and a laundry machine was invented that say sorted, washed, dried, folded and then put clothes away, then I might get an extra two hours.
IF I had an extra two hours a day I think I would like to either spend more time doing the things I already enjoy doing OR perhaps organize our photos (which is not an excuse, just not a priority).

Assuming that those 2 hours could be without kids, I would take a nap. Otherwise, I would hope the kids slept 2 hours longer and I would get to bed earlier!

gaaaa..... the photo organizing is at the bottom of my list too. i'm almost tempted to not take as many anymore. i am a year behind and then some. if i had two extra hours these days, i'd be doing a full hour yoga session and probably showering more often.

Yes a NAP! Love that. I think I would also be able to invest more time in making new friendships....

read, take more walks with the camera, spend more time with friends, cooking... the possibilities are endless!

AN extra two hours? I'd probably read more. And go to the gym more frequently on a regular basis. Although I've recently reprioritized and have been getting there :)

I think I would spend those extra two hours working on finishing our house. My fiance and I are feverishly trying to get it done in time for our wedding up here this October, not the easiest task that is for sure, hehe! Love this info-graph too.

Hi there!
I really don't need more time, what I need is the ability to focus better. I could accomplish so much more if I could just do that...
Great post!

I love to hear how other women balance the energy/to do list - always informative. I have a chronic illness which I vow not to cheat me of my priorities or lay waste to my life so being highly organised is key - but also knowing when to leave the house a mess and feed the family a frozen dinner helps :) What would a do with a spare 2 hours? Grab a cup of tea and sit in the sun surrounded by all my beautiful art books! Heaven!

what a great post. it definitely puts the "i don't have enough time" argument to question.
