These yummy painting are by Soojin Kim. A recipient of the Dana Pond Award as well as a Bolt Award- Ms. Kim's artist statement reads:
Objects have the power of carrying the memories across space, time, culture and generations. I interpret the images of objects in the languages of paints and brushes to create an emotional and sensual communication.
Originally completing her Masters in Electrical Engineering at Boston University-Ms. Kim recently finished her Fifth Year Certificate Program at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
Ms. Kim recounts in her bio that she has fond memories of eating American sweets with her father when they were living in Korea. I find her painting to be quintessentially American in their portrayal of the ordinary while demonstrating a keen talent for creating realistic images.
The two images above I took while I was visiting the Museum of Fine Art in Boston- They are oil on canvas and much more impressive in color than my Iphone could do justice- The image below is a drawing from Ms. Kim's website.

Wow - these look good enough to eat. They look like photographs. Very cool.
How amazing - I love the touch of colour in that first one and the thread of food & childhood memory that runs through these. So powerful.
I LOVE these!!!
I thought the 1st one was a photo too. So realistic! :)
Oh boy..peanut butter cups are my absolute fave. She makes them look mesmerizing!

Okay so I'm not usually a "still life" or "mundane object" type of art connoisseur, but these are pretty incredible. Not to mention, I am always so impressed with people who have backgrounds in things like engineering AND art--crazy, right?? I can't imagine both sides of my brain functioning with equal precision.
Paintings? wow! They are so realistic that I'm going into the kitchen and getting a peanut butter cup!
so cool.... I thought they were photographs. I'd love these in my kitchen.

Oh they're delicious and they're making me very hungry! :)
What an awesome find! I love the brokenness of that Oreo image, and how it seems to dissipate into milk. The chocolate perfection of the reeses makes me want some American candy!
Mmmmm. I am ready for dessert!
How absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing such an amazing find!
awesome!
These are PAINTINGS-they look good enough to eat-like advertising photos. I'll bet you had to have a sweet snack after seeking THIS
exhibition.

Just
a fantastic combination of painterly talent and fun! xo bb
gorgeous and edible!
I would totally hang these in the kitchen, above the stove.
And I would probably lick the peanut butter cup painting at least once a week.
Those are seriously impressive...I thought they were pictures at first!
I am so impressed... I can't get over how real they look but there is also something so intriging about them making them much more than the just what the subject is.
how many points is that delicious art? yummmmmm.
Maybe if I had this painting on my wall I wouldn't eat the real thing and gain so much weight? :)
I like realism. These are neat.
oh my gosh! these paintings look so delicious :)
