The Kids Are All Right

Dr. J read some good reviews about this film and we rented it the other night.  The film generated much buzz as a Sundance hit in 2010- where is was excluded from competition for having missed the submission deadline for consideration.
The film is about a lesbian couple whose biological children search for their sperm donor.  Mark Ruffalo plays the donor and  Julianne Moore and Annette Bening are excellent in their roles as a couple. I also really loved Mia Wasikowska who plays their daughter- she reminds me of a young Gwyneth Paltrow.  Ms.Wasikowska is a Australian actress whose mother is a Polish photographer.  She lived in Poland for a year while her mother worked on a project chronicling her own immigration from Poland to Australian.  Mia also starred in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland this year with Johnny Depp.

Dr. J and I both really enjoyed this film.

Have you seen it?

I would like to see this. Most recently I've seen Harry Potter, Eat, Pray, Love, and The Guardians of Gahoole (lots of kid flicks). Looking forward to The King's Speech.

I saw it with my folks about a week ago. The sex scenes were hard to watch with dad! I thought it was *okay*, I think it was so hyped up I was expecting amazing...

Such a coincidence, I'd wanted to see it, but never got a chance. Watched it on an airplane a week ago. Liked it, but not as much as I thought I would.

I liked the daughter, too. You're totally right on about her seeming like a young G Paltrow.

I've been wanting to see this movie for a while. The cast is amazing! Will defintiely be renting it over the break. I've heard mixed reviews by some people being offended what happens between Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo but I understand that was probably necessary to get the movie to be accepted by the masses.

We see very few grown-up movies these days (although I thoroughly enjoyed Despicable Me and Tangled this year!) Now that we're doing Netflix, we're hoping to see more movies like this one. Sounds like a good one!

I went to see this film at the theater by myself and I'm really happy I did. Seeing movies by yourself allows you to really form your own unique opinions and views on the movie without the other person interfering. I really loved it, I loved all the little details - his restaurant was awesome and I loved the house that the family lived in. I'm glad you liked it. Happy New Year!!!
