The San Fransisco Mushroom Store, is located in Ferry Plaza at the end of Market Street.
We love anything mushroom and this place has a fantastic variety. I picked up some truffle salt which is new for me. We just ate some bok choy with a couple of dashes and I LOVE the subtle hint of truffle.

They have mushroom growing kits- which I would really like to try.
They sell inocculated spores in a sawdust block which you soak overnight.
They do not, in fact, grow under these adorable glass enclosures but rather in plastic bags.
Have you ever tried to grow your own mushrooms?

Ummm.... I don't eat mushrooms... well, not since college anyway.

I love mushrooms (such a wonderful sign!)and also the idea of growing them yourself! But I also fear I couldn't bring myself to eat the fruits of my own gardening labor :) {Btw, can *finally* follow you, thanks to my computer doctor! :))
I just don't care for the texture of mushrooms, though my daughter loves them. I do however, like truffle oil so the salt I'm certain would be a big hit.
ilovemushrooms, but hubbie hates them. So when he's off to work, daughters and i indulge in a mushroom pasta dish, simple but delicious! ilove that sign.

A whole store for mushrooms! How fantastic. I realize how far in the country I live - we have nothing even close to this around me.

Mushrooms are the cutest looking fungi! Japanese mushrooms are delish, I'm glad there is Japan Town in my city!

Hahahaha hilarious!!! While I despise mushrooms, I love the Ferry Plaza and all the wonderful stands of produce and coffee and everything else they sell. I wish I liked mushies! I'm a vegetarian and they come in SO many veggie things, but I just can't do it. Ugh.
i wish i could grow anything... there is nothing that compares to home grown tomatoes or squash. Speaking of mushrooms, we're about to enjoy gniocchi (sp?) and watch Dexter... i have been looking forward ALL WORK DAY to an in-home date with my darling fiance and our pups :)

I think it's incredible to have a shop devoted to fungi. Is it seasonal? Great to grow food, and graze your own crops - enjoy!
I love mushrooms! I think I love them because the rest of my family hates them so if they're in any dish, all the mushrooms end up on my plate. :) I don't think I trust myself enough to grow mushrooms, though...
