Superbowl Shrimp Etouffee

My first Superbowl party was when we were living in St. Maarten.
Our friends from Louisiana hosted the event and it was my first taste of authentic Southern fare.
It is no surprise that  I now associate the Superbowl with delicious Southern food.
We are going to our friends the C family this afternoon and this is the dish that we are bringing to share.
We considered using crawfish which I love but felt like it would be really mean to bring live animals into the house and eat them- least our hermit crab Snowy The Brave get nervous.

that's funny because all my southern friends i've met here on sxm too and you better believe they're having a super bowl party today! but, alas... we don't watch football and won't be joining them. maybe i should just go for the southern food! but, again... i'm a vegan (although i sometimes eat fisth) and they usually use lots of butter, cheese, and meat.

I would not eat that dish, nor would I watch the SuperBowl.

Just another Sunday evening with my wine and laptop.

Hilarious! I have never actually had crawfish. I live in the south so you'd imagine I could find some.....

This looks delicious.

This looks yummy! We didn't do a party this year because we were throwing a baby shower the day before and two parties in one weekend would be the death of me, but we did enjoy comfort food (mac and cheese, ice cream sandwiches) while we watched the game. Nothing complicated, just delicious :)
