Happy New Year and Welcome White Rabbit
The year of the Rabbit is traditionally associated with home and family, artistic pursuits, diplomacy, and keeping the peace.
Therefore, 2011 is very likely to be a relatively calmer one than 2010 both on the world scene, as well as on a personal level.
How cute are these tea towels my mom Queen of Creativity sent us?
My mom got the idea for this style of the herring fish from a Scandinavian needlepoint book-
She free handed it and added a zig zag pattern to the edges-
It is going to be SO hard to use them- So far I've used them to cover the bread while it rises.

your mama is certainly talented! those towels are darling:)
Love your Mom's needlework! I used to do cross stitch, but nothing very creative. And I don't blame you...it would be hard to use those lovely pieces of expressionism from your Mom. Covering bread while it rises, is quite respectful, though. Love the smell of bread baking!
Love the nesting dolls! Sweet!
I was learning embroidery before kids...Never made it much beyond counted cross stitch though.
Ahhh! I have a weakness for embroidered dish towels.
My mother is crafty as well. I received a beaded felt poinsettia pin from her for Christmas this year and it's destined to become an heirloom...

Good news about the year of the rabbit. The tea towels are beautiful! My parents brought me back a fancy tea towel from Scotland a couple years ago and it's still in the plastic wrap. I would hate to get it dirty :) Layer it over rising bread would be a great use though. If only I made my own bread :) One day...
These are great! It's nice to have then hanging in the kitchen.
Here's hoping for all those good things this year.
Fabulous...love the herring fish teatowel. Aren't you lucky! xx
I'm a Rabbit so I guess this is my year.
Your description of what the Rabbit represents covers all the important points for a good life.
We are in for a great year Ren, and I(we)appreciate your reminder of this.
Lovely towels and I bet your Mom expects you to use them. Moms usually do.

The tea towels are very charming - I'd be much tempted to turn them into cushion covers.
Sooo adorable!! My stepsisterinlaw gave us a hand stitched shark tea towel for xmas a few years ago and I always have it out on display. I love it so! Yours are pretty darn amazing if I do say so.
such cute stuff!
and we could use some calm on planet earth! fingers crossed that we get it with the year of the rabbit!
It's consoling to hear that 2011 is going to be a great year. Those tea towels are beautiful and your Mom is quite talented!
Here's hoping for a peaceful Year of the Rabbit!
What beautiful towels and an adorable little rabbit...love it!
She freehanded it? Wow. Beautiful. Thanks for the well wishes and reminding me to come over and enter your giveaway while you entered mine - that's quite fun I think:) Going to go do it now.
Those towels are so beautiful! Your Mom is so talented :)

Thank you for the recent blog comments...nice to meet you, too! Love your little rabbit and those fabulous towels. Happy Year of the Rabbit!
Those tea towels are too adorable! I would love to see them covering raising bread, I think that is a perfect use for them.
Awesome year to look forward to.
Kate
I hope it is calmer!!
Your towels are lovely Ren, your mom is an artist also I see!
Thank you for posting on the year of the rabbit, I love the way you broke it down. Sounds like a wonderful year ahead!
wow! Aren't these Russian matryoshka dolls?;)
have a good (white?)rabbit year (of creativity!)

I would have trouble using them too...they're just too pretty! My favorite is the fish. It has so much character and the hand of the artist is so present.
Mama's talented :) It reminded me of our high school projects. From elementary to high school we have these home economics projects where we learned how to sew, cook, wood carve... a little bit of everything, you know. I learned all the stitches...lazy daisies, running stitches, hemminngs, etc...it was easy and fun. Anyway, I am talking too much :) Have anice week ahead.
Thank you about the year of the rabbit. I need a gentler year!
I love what your mother has made. I would use those towels as hand towels in the bathroom. You could admire the designs hanging there on display, and they would get wet but not soiled.
Happy New Year! I'm year of the rabbit. So it's my year. I love your mom's towel. I have that book and there are many wonderful little things to make. Just use the towel..... or frame it. Either way it's beautiful and made by someone who loves you. Enjoy.
Lovely teatowels!
Could I commission your mom to make me some for a cookbook I am propping? I LOVE those!
