Super Fast Delicious Appetizer

I put these appetizers together the other night when our friends the C's came over for dinner.
Like any good Polish-Jew I love bacon- it is my understanding that bacon is fattening so I sometimes buy Turkey bacon at Trader Joe's (I am in NO way implying it tastes like bacon).
I also bought some dates and I happen to always keep cheese in my fridge-
So I stuffed the dates with cheese, wrapped them in 'bacon' and called it fancy.
Slice the date and scoop the pit out- stuff with cheese-

Cut the 'bacon' to size so it wraps around once with slight overlap

Stick a toothpick in it
Bake for 15 minutes at 350

These are my thrift store plates- still love them-

What is your favorite super fast appetizer?

Okay R - your blog makes me VERY hungry in the middle of the day! My fave appie is a tortilla spread with cream cheese, then you layer on a thin slice of deli ham and some pickled asparagus. Roll up and cut into pieces. Sounds gross but SOOOO good!

You had me at bacon! I like you, LOVE bacon. I have actually made these appetizers for a party before{sans the cheese}....but they never made it to the party! So good! Next time I'll try adding the cheese:)

Wow the hors d'oeuvres look fancy schmancy :) Nothing beats good ol' bacon;)

Oh yummy! Mine is very like yours - melon and goat's cheese wrapped in thinly sliced fried aubergine slices. I think that's what you guys call eggplant.

Nicely done! These are like the #1 hot item at the Tapas restaurant down the street from us. I'm a vegetarian so I'll just take the cheese-stuffed dates though!

I don't eat bacon (or meat in general) but I definitely eat cheese, and most of the snacky/appetizery stuff I like involves cheese. :) I keep seeing these little shot glasses of tomato soup with 1/4 a grilled cheese sandwich on a toothpick, and that's my next goal--YUM!

I'm a vegetarian so the bacon is out but still look good. I love love to eat figs with cheese. Years ago when I did eat meat, bacon wrapped waterchestnuts were my favorite :)

I seldom eat meat but because of this post I was forced to go to the fridge and bite off a piece of kelbasa-A BIG PIECE.
Your post inspires cravings.
Yummy looking appetizers.

We threw an Aaron Neville-Eggnog Christmas party, and one of my favorite memories is of our dear friend AJ spilling bacon grease from exactly this appetizer all over the inside of our stove. Such a good party!

Oooohhh! Yummy!! I'm so hungry right now and I'm bad with appetizers. My creativity just goes away when it comes for quick dishes. Need to learn to improvise like that!!

P.S. Your remark about being a "good Polish-Jew" made me smile. My dad would have like that... :)

I love these things! We make the same things and sometimes sprinkle with brown sugar and finish them under the broiler! Either way, very good!!!
