I eat avocados because they are a great source of antioxidants. They are cholesterol-free and help your body absorb more fat-soluble nutrients when consumed with other foods. Vitamins in avocados include A, several B-complex, C, E, as well as phosphorus and magnesium They are a fruit and like bananas, are filling, digestible and slow-burning.
Furthermore, I support locally grown (or at least close to me, give me a break I live in a desert) and California and Mexico are both pretty close to me. This is a Hass from Mexico. I do not support East Coast avocados.
My favorite way (these days) to eat avocado is chopped, salt and peppered, squirt of lemon and a tablespoon of Rice Vinegar. I have a book called: The healing powers of vinegar : a complete guide to nature's most remarkable remedy by Cal Orey and have been adding vinegar to various dishes, even drinking it with water and of course cleaning with it. For the record Dr. J says I am nutz.
Three out of four people in my house say yum.

Hey, what a nice mention. Did you know avocado, like olive oil and dark chocolate, boast heart healthy monounsaturated fat?
