Shhh, I'm Trying To THINK

Silence is a source of great strength

Lao Tzu- Chinese Taoist Philosopher, wrote Tao Te Ching (600 BCE)

I love music but hate noise.  Fidgety people have always driven me INSANE yet I have been blessed with Dr. J and our second monkey, both very fidgety people, to help me improve this area of insanity in my life. I spend most of my days in silence which I tremendously enjoy.
Today is my monkeys last day of school. Most schools let out a few weeks ago but my monkeys go to a Jewish school and there are a lot of Jewish holidays, so we need to make up for the days we spent hanging out davening.
I am ready for the next 70 days.
I have a major list of Farts and Crafts, places to visit and friends to hang out with.
It occurred to me a few weeks ago that I should get some ‘things’ done before my house is taken over by monkeys but instead I enjoyed the silence of my house, read some good books and did a lot of writing.
In two hours I will no longer dwell in silence and I’m okay with that- for 70 days.

This is my front living room which I enjoy reading in.
I did my books as art project and am still loving it.

"I love music but hate noise". Genius, I feel exactly the same way! I am an empty nester now, my house is calm, quiet and serene. I enjoy big parties and a house full of chatty guests but all the quiet time in between, that's pure heaven. Have a super summer of fun.

are you Jewish too? did I already know this and my brain is just fried?

I am just starting my first year on the board of my temple. Nervous. We'll see. I'm the youngest by far, but it's a period of transition, so...it should be a good thing.

Everton- I love hosting parties so I agree that it is the in between.

Erin- I think I mentioned it in my Chelsea post- but yes. Just to make it clear- we are bacon eating Jews.

oh dear! lately I made the same thing with my books!you inspired me to do that:) it's awesome idea!
and the music..well, I like silence but unfortunately I suffer from Tinnitus and it's difficult for me to hear "nothing" because of the noise in my ears..:(
however!I keep fingers crossed for these 70days without silence;)
take care there

I love your books! Martha Stewart's main designer did the exact same thing (I think) and I fell in love with it. Makes reading so much more special (not that it needs anything to be more special).

First, I need to get Hubs to build me the bookcases he's promised to build me (for like the past 4 years)... THEN, I'm totally doing this with my books. LOVE IT.

Oh, and also with the loving music and hating noise... but if I had to choose; SILENCE is my absolute favorite.

I like this post. I like silence too. I also like your books. I have never been brave enough to organize by color because I have my books organized by subject.

So glad you found a few moments of silence before summer "offically" starts. I was laughing while reading your post because my son use to call it "arts and craps". Maybe it's a boy thing. Happy Summer!

I ADORE your colour arranged books! I work in a bookstore and every day am asked for "that blue book" or "that red book" - I swear, people would love it if we coloured coded the fiction! What a beautiful room to sit and read in! I agree with you about noise - when my husband is away, the house is gloriously quiet and still. But it's nice when he's home again too!

wait, wait, wait..... are you kidding me? that is your living room? that should be on the cover of an international design magazine. i'm serious!!! I want to be in that room! you have the touch.
Love and agree what you said about music/noise. i totally agree. Enjoy this last week of school before summer. I am sure your "meenky" (monkey)(that is said in my best Inspector Clouseau impression: "there is a meenky in my room"...sorry i digress)....is ready to start the summer! Are you? LOL.....

Maybe You'll Enjoy These Too...
