Zadok Ben-David [Human Nature]

Zadok Ben-David is an Israeli artist who works and lives in London. He creates sculptures and installations which focus on humans, nature and growth. The metal he uses to create his works provides a solid texture, a natural material manipulated by man. In this case iron is cut with a laser. The contrast between solid form and the void of his sculptures as well as the shadows they create is an intricate aspect of his work.

Currently showing at the Art Museum in Tel Aviv, Human Nature is a large scale installation which spans over two rooms. His figured silhouettes whose insides are formed by foliage create the illusion of a solid connectedness between man and nature. In one room Mr. Ben-David created a work with over twenty-thousand miniature trees, plants and flowers. Each piece of vegetation planted in the sand box is handmade and as in nature no two representations are the same.

Here is the artists website which has REALLY cool works:

this work is absolutely stunning. Where did you learn of him? My husband and I make no bones about the fact that we just don't enjoy going to art museums. However, I would certainly enjoy an installation like this!

Valarie- they seem too delicate to be made out of metal.
Ann- I would love to see your mural
Bo- Me too! His show was in NY but no present showing in NA
Rachel-installations are a fantastic way to appreciate art for "Non-Artsy" peeps. The magnitude of a work is often part of the genius. I find most of my artist by research. One of the reasons I started a blog was to share all the cool artist I find daily.
VictoriaBB- I agree totally would be fantastic to lean close to the floor and just look.
Thenextarrow- Agreed very cool in person I am sure.
Jac- You are so welcome- Have a great week!
Kiandra- isn't it neat how you can zoom sections of his works?
One sydney road- Very cool blog- Glad you like mine.

Interesting work. I'm intrigued by the use of plants and flowers and the color black. So much life along with the color black referencing death. Very thought provoking...

Maybe You'll Enjoy These Too...
